What happens once a soldier is going back home after having served out his contract?

Hi,

Once a soldier served his/her contract, what procedures does he/she go through between the end of the contract and having a safe flight home? If there is a decompression period, how many hours/days/months would it be?

thank you.

  1. I know for the Army you go through ACAP and it helps you with your resume and job searching skills. Not sure about the other branches.

You go on terminal leave if you don’t sell it back. Clear post. If you were a good soldier get an award a pat on the back and off you go in the sunset. If you honored your contract you can use the benefits you earned.
