Knee Replacement Surgery?

Knee Replacement Surgery – High Risk Candidate
Risk Factors: COPD/Emphysema (Oxygen 24/7′s), Sleep Apnea (Bi-Pap Mach.), Atrial Fibrillation, Age 70 & Over Weight 50+ lbs. Had previous back surgery of ruptured disk but no fusion’s. Anesthesiologist is suggesting a Spinal w/Mild Sedation, Nerve Block in groin area … w/scare tissue in the lower back which could create problems for a Spinal. Have met with the Orthopedic Surgeon and Anesthesiologist & want to schedule surgery in October.
Appreciate advice/opinion of someone in the know.

Chiropractic or Physical Therapy for Whiplash?

I was rear-ended at a red light on Jan 30th, at about 15-20mph. My neck hurt that evening, and has been getting progressively worse. I was treated by my chiropractor 4 times since the injury, and it has not improved permanently (only temporarily). It is painful to turn my neck for more than a few moments (I can’t sleep with a turned neck, or turn my neck to talk with someone for more than a couple minutes, etc, without feeling pain).

I am wondering which treatment is most effective for whiplash neck injuries: chiropractic care (maybe with a new chiro), or physical therapy.

Any sensible help is very very very much appreciated.
Thanks!
As far as the pain goes, it’s not starting to run down my arm or anything, but just becoming stiffer and more intense in my neck.

First time with chiropractic treatments, but I'm in more pain after 6 treatments. Should I keep going?

After my x-ray, the chiropractor said my neck curve was opposite what it should be, and my spine twists a little bit as it goes up my back (acute scoliosis), so he prescribed 3 treatments a week for 4 weeks. I came in with mild back pain and a neck pain only if I leaned my head back.

After the 3rd treatment, I got a horrible persistent neck pain that got so bad I could only turn my head 3 inches in any direction, and I couldn’t sleep. It got better and then flared up to being worse. Now it’s a bit better, but I’m almost a week out from that pain and have been through 6 treatments. He says everyone has ups and downs. Should I keep going? Or could there be something that needs an MRI?

What causes pinched nerves?

I get a pinched nerve in my shoulder that radiates pain down my arm and up into my neck. I do nothing to cause this – although I figure I sleep on it wrong because I wake up in pain.

Why is this happening, and what can I do to prevent it and to treat it once it occurs?
How am I sleeping wrong though? I am a side sleeper. I get pinched nerves in either shoulder, up to six times a year… Why does this happen to some folks like me fairly often and never happen to other people?
