my puppies paralyzed in the hind legs. If I stand him he stays like that for about 4 seconds. Is this hopeful?

5 days ago I tossed my puppy onto the bed. When he landed he started to cry and his back legs were limp. I rushed him to the vet and the vet said he had deep pain response. He stayed over night at the vet and in the morning the vet said he didn’t have the pain response anymore. So I rushed him to a specialist to have an MRI done. I was then told that my puppy likely had traumatic vertebral subluxation/reduction. He stayed over night and was give meds. I picked him up the next day and was told he has no control over any of his bows and I have to express him, and there was a 50/50 chance he would recover. I have done physical therapy every day in the bath. I have now seen him pee on his own and try to stand up. His paralyzed legs seem to stretch on there own along with his front paws (he has feeling there). His back paws will sometimes curl and move too. Today I was able to stand him up on all fours and he could support himself for about 4 seconds before slowly lowering back down. Before he couldn’t do this at all. Can anyone tell me if these are good signs of a slow but positive recovery or just something that happens to paralyzed dogs. Thanks for any help or advice.

For a herniated back disk, is a discectomy or disk replacement surgery better?

I’m in early 30′s, diagnosed with a significant L5-S1 herniated disk, with left leg sciatica symptoms that hurt all the time and make it very difficult to walk…it’s been five months now, physical therapy seems to have been ineffective, as well as my first epidural, and it is recommended now that I not get any additional epidurals. Two weeks ago, could lift leg 1 1/2 feet straight up, now it’s about 6 inches. Only way to get through the day and do some work, is to take percocet with about 3 pain patches on the worst pain areas. Have my second neurosurgeon appointment shortly, expect a recommendation of ASAP surgery, or latest in two months. Thoughts appreciated

Chiropractic or Physical Therapy for Whiplash?

I was rear-ended at a red light on Jan 30th, at about 15-20mph. My neck hurt that evening, and has been getting progressively worse. I was treated by my chiropractor 4 times since the injury, and it has not improved permanently (only temporarily). It is painful to turn my neck for more than a few moments (I can’t sleep with a turned neck, or turn my neck to talk with someone for more than a couple minutes, etc, without feeling pain).

I am wondering which treatment is most effective for whiplash neck injuries: chiropractic care (maybe with a new chiro), or physical therapy.

Any sensible help is very very very much appreciated.
Thanks!
As far as the pain goes, it’s not starting to run down my arm or anything, but just becoming stiffer and more intense in my neck.

I have disc herniation and degenerative disc disease. What do you think about surgery?

I am in a lot of pain and have been for more than 3 years. My condition has slowly worsened. I have tried physical therapy, chiropractic, braces, epidural injections, and pain killers. I am now scheduled for surgery, either disc replacement and / or fusion and opening of the foramen. I have heard horror stories, and also encouraging one. If anyone has ever gone through this, I would like to hear about it and what you think.

chiropractic vs physical therapy? for my career?

how do u guys think about the career of chiropractic and physical therapy. ( would be better if you are on the profession)
in my opinion, chiropractic is little riskier then P.T because of negative concepts of the people. They help patients to stay at their top natural healing point by fixing the problems of muskeletal and nervous system.
Physical therapy is really rewarding career. Their job is to help patients to overcome their injuries by supporting and motivating them.
I really have hard time on picking between chiro and p.t. what do u guys think that should b good?

What are some other treatments for a prolapsed (slipped) disc in my back?

About 2 months ago i injured my back due to heavy lifting. The doctor claims it was a prolapsed disc which pressed against the sciatic nerve running down my left leg.
I’m going to physical therapy for it, and they have me doing all sorts of excersises, but I’m afraid that they aren’t helping as much as they should. Somedays the pain is gone, but on others it is back as strong as ever. I’ve been on painkillers and muscle relaxants which I found I am allergic to, so I am currently not taking any medication for it.

Does anybody have any suggestions as to what I should do other than not straining the injured area? I’d like to avoid surgery. Thank you in advance.

Do MRI’s show pinched nerves?

Been having back pain in right L-4 region (between shoulder blade and spine) foe WELL over year. There is a lump there and as the day progresses, it gets more painful and swollen. Lots of muscle spasms too. Had MRI that showed a lartov cyst (dr said "normal abnormality?????) and that MRI showed some arthritis – not severe – and that it was "normal beyond that. He gave a consult with pain mgr and physical therapy (already had with those lil electrodes w/ no results) and feel like he is brushing it off not believing me. Asked if MRI showed pinched nerves and he said yes. Does it- or is he passing the buck? I am 35 with history of C-2 fracture (broken neck) @ 16. Anyone know anything?

Also – I am right handed and it falls asleep often during rest and tingles in the fingertips- especially in the mornings. Have lost strenght – can not open jars- like I used to. And my right side of my scalp falls asleep when I lay on it.

I have a severly herniated L5 disc, cutting off a nerve down my left leg. Will Spinal Decompression work?

So I was diagnosed a few months ago with a herniated L5 disc in my lower back. I dont have time for the physical therapy, and it takes way to long. Do you think Spinal Decompression will work for me?
