Knee Replacement Surgery – High Risk Candidate
Risk Factors: COPD/Emphysema (Oxygen 24/7′s), Sleep Apnea (Bi-Pap Mach.), Atrial Fibrillation, Age 70 & Over Weight 50+ lbs. Had previous back surgery of ruptured disk but no fusion’s. Anesthesiologist is suggesting a Spinal w/Mild Sedation, Nerve Block in groin area … w/scare tissue in the lower back which could create problems for a Spinal. Have met with the Orthopedic Surgeon and Anesthesiologist & want to schedule surgery in October.
Appreciate advice/opinion of someone in the know.

Disc Replacement Surgery

I am in a lot of pain and have been for more than 3 years. My condition has slowly worsened. I have tried physical therapy, chiropractic, braces, epidural injections, and pain killers. I am now scheduled for surgery, either disc replacement and / or fusion and opening of the foramen. I have heard horror stories, and also encouraging one. If anyone has ever gone through this, I would like to hear about it and what you think.

Lumbar Disc Replacement

I have had two prior surgeries to remove ruptured discs in the lumbar region of my back. The doctor is now talking about doing a fusion. I have researched Charite (pronounced Share-a-tay) and believe this might be better in my case. Any opinions? I found out about this after I spoke with him last and I’m going to bring it up on my next appointment. I do have degenerative disc disease but don’t know the extent of it.

Lumbar Disc Replacement

My surigcal opitions include that of a Fusion or a Lumbar Disc Replacement. My symptoms include chronic back pain (2 out of 10), Spasms (1-2 a day), and my strength is decreased especially when lifting. Please help, I am struggling with what route to take. Thanks>
