I suffered a stroke last year as a result of chiropractic manipulation of my neck. I am recovering well but would like to find a support group made up of patients with similar stories as mine.
Where can I find a group to get involved with?
I am in the US.

First I would like to wish you well and can empathize with your situation.
There are many reasons why people have strokes. In the majority of cases individuals are "pre-disposed" to have a vascular incident and any extension of the neck has the ability to cause a stroke.
In other words, you could have been at the HAIR DRESSER getting your hair washed or just glancing over your shoulder to change lanes and caused a stroke.
Check the research. The chances of a chiropractor causing a stroke is 1: 4.5 MILLION……. as opposed to tylenol poisoning, which results in 56,000 injuries, 25,000 hospitalizations, and 450 deaths EVERY YEAR.
There are many studys in current journals that discuss stroke and manipulation of the cervical spine. The conclusion is that chiropractic is safe.
I am not trying to invalidate you, however, to conclude that your stroke was the DIRECT result of a chiropractor and nothing else, scientifically speaking is incorrect. Correlation does not prove causation. There are other factors at play.
I wish you a speedy recovery and hope you forgive the chiropractor who was only doing what he took an oath to do, and that is help as many people as he can.
